“Oh, the unspeakable greatness of that exchange,—the Sinless One is condemned, and he who is guilty goes free; the Blessing bears the curse, and the cursed is brought into blessing; the Life dies, and the dead live; the Glory is whelmed in darkness, and he who knew nothing but confusion of face is clothed with glory.”

Eternal evaluation and improvement, for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it

“He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of His people shall He take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.” (Isa. 25:8).

“And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.” (Isa. 25:9).

“And He will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.” (Isa. 25:7).

“And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.” (Isa. 25:6).

“For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest.” (Isa. 25:10).

It’s a strange thought that correction and performance evaluations can be given without bringing into it the feelings of superiority and superior worth. This is so often what we see in our supervisors, and so often imagine it when we are examined and corrected. That’s why sinners despise assessment and judgment. They believe their worth is being brought into question. Then rebellion rises up.

Eternity will involve endless performance evaluations by God and by everyone higher than us. Can we let that happen to us? Eternal pressing upward and onward to grow and improve. Can we do that? Can we live under that law? Endlessly being made perfect. That is what heaven had before sin began. That’s what will be restored. Am I weaker vessel than you? Then you will be responsible to take me under your wing and help me fix my imperfections and weaknesses. And I will be responsible for those weaker than me. And God will hold me accountable if I don’t. The principle of Ezekiel 33:7 will forever remain in force. It will be a massive schoolhouse operation. Forever. But love will never cease between all levels up and down the ladder to God the Father. Just as God is the head of Christ and Adam ruled over Eve, so teaching and accountability, humble supervision and selfless service to one another will pervade the eternal kingdom to be reestablished.

The unity that has bound Father and Son will bind Their family, and happiness will be restored forever. Never to removed again. No more misgivings. No more tears. Eternal happiness everywhere, and health, praise and song. The laws of God no longer doubted because sin will be eradicated. Perfection and excellence, knowledge and love forever increasing higher and higher, just as God would have it. And He will be satisfied. So will His only begotten Son, the Prince of peace. The guidance at each grade will be appreciated and enjoyed. No more envy and strife.

Imagine.

Constant correction but no more punishment because there will be no more rebellion. And the punishing hand of the Lord will rest.

Will we die to become perfect? Will we do like Christ? Will we accept any amount of punishment to please God, like Jesus did? Remember, our God is a consuming fire.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Rev. 21:4).
