The Blood moon
“And I beheld when He had opened the sixth seal,
and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of
hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven
fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is
shaken of a mighty wind.” (Rev. 6:12,13).
What is a blood moon? It’s a lunar eclipse. But, why does the media call it a blood moon? To scare us? Maybe. Maybe because the moon turns red. But, it’s not really scarlet. More orange than red. But, there’s some history behind the blood moon. And it is biblical with apocalyptic overtones. In fact, the blood moon is intimately tied to the apocalyptic Advent movement.
As the above Bible text shows, Revelation prophesied
five events in the heavens that would precede the powerful second advent of Jesus. He
had told His disciples that He would return, and that is the heart of the Advent movement, and in our hearts.
“And as they heard these things, He added and spake
a parable, because He was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the
kingdom of God should immediately appear.
He said therefore, A certain Nobleman went into a
far country to receive for Himself a kingdom, and to return.” (Luke 19:11,12).
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God,
believe also in Me.
In My Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not
so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come
again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John
14:1-3).
“And when He had spoken these things, while they
beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as He
went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye
gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven,
shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:9-11).
“Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen.” (Rev. 1:7).
Seventh-day Adventists have clung to these promises of His return. They have been precious to us. And signs of His coming have been multiplying, especially of late. And, even more so, signs were a real foreboding in the late 1700s and early 1800s.
Prior to the Seventh-day Adventist church there were many Protestant Bible prophecy students looking for the five events in the heavens, stated above: the great earthquake, the sun becoming black as sackcloth, the moon turning to blood, the stars falling, and the atmosphere rolling away.
Then came the Lisbon earthquake in 1755 that
rattled Europe. It was felt in Morocco, the island of Madeira, the West Indies
and Greenland, the British Isles, and Norway and Sweden: an area of 4 million
square miles. The 8.7 magnitude and its massive accompanying tsunami destroyed
Lisbon and the whole coast causing extensive damage. Mountains, “some of the
largest in Portugal, were impetuously shaken, as it were, from their very
foundations, and some of them opened at their summits, which were split and
rent in a wonderful manner, huge masses of them being thrown down into the
adjacent valleys. Flames are related to have issued from these mountains”-- Sir
Charles Lyell, Principles of Geology,
p. 495.
This was the first earthquake of its kind in Christian Europe.
The
1755 Lisbon Earthquake
The Great Lisbon Earthquake occurred in the morning
hours of All Saints Day, a Catholic high holiday, on November 1, 1755. Much of
the city’s population, estimated to be around 200,000, was gathered for mass in
Lisbon’s opulent churches and cathedrals. Beginning at around 9:30 am, three
separate jolts spaced a few minutes apart violently shook southwestern
Portugal.
Those who survived collapsing buildings fled into
the streets, leaving behind lighted candles on church altars and cooking fires
in kitchens. Intense fires that were likely ignited by curtains and woodwork
that fell into the flames spread within minutes throughout the city and burned
out of control for days.
Some residents sought refuge in the harbor at the
mouth of the Tagus River, but their relief from the fires and falling debris
was short-lived. Approximately half an hour after the first shock, massive
tsunami waves up to 12 meters in height began to arrive, wrecking ships and
drowning thousands of people. Towns along Portugal’s western and southern
coasts, southwestern Spain and most of Morocco’s Atlantic coast also suffered
significant damage and loss of life. The effects of the tsunami were noted as
far away as England to the north and in the Caribbean islands across the ocean.
According to a 2003 study by Alvaro Pereira, nearly
70% of Lisbon’s dwellings—about 23,000 buildings—were destroyed or
substantially damaged by the combined effects of shaking, fire and tsunami.… The
1755 Lisbon earthquake, with a magnitude estimated at 8.5 to 9, is the largest
known historic earthquake to impact Europe and northern Africa.”

Next came what was known as the Dark Day.
Please read

There has been a significant effort to discredit the Dark Day. This effort sites a massive forest fire in Ontario that affected the meteorology resulting in an “advection inversion” over New England. But there is much evidence that these are falsified “facts”. The eyewitness testimonies on May 19, 1780 indicate it wasn’t smoke, which dismisses a distant forest fire. Lateral sources of light were dimmed by the unaccountable darkness, which dismisses a dense atmosphere blocking the sunlight and the moonlight of the following night. And everyone didn’t pass it off as fog. Famed Sir William Frederick Herschel, a fellow of the Royal Society of London and President of the Astronomical Society, was awarded the Copley Medal for his discovery of the planet Uranus, the first planet to be discovered since prehistoric times. His words solidify Bible prophecy, that it was not a common, natural occurrence, for he spoke of as singular, “the dark day”. He wrote: “The dark day in North America was one of those wonderful phenomena of nature which philosophy [science] is at a loss to explain” The Great Controversy, p. 306. As a committed Christian, after for years studying the unsurpassable cosmos in an age of deism, the foundation of agnosticism and atheism, he also wrote, “The undevout astronomer must be mad.”
The Dark Day was followed that night by a deathly darkness and the moon turning deep red. But, this we will look at below.
Later in 1833 a meteor shower far outshone all other meteor showers since.
“Although it has been suggested the Leonid meteor shower and storms have been noted in ancient times,[11] it was the meteor storm of 1833 that broke into people’s modern day awareness – it was of truly superlative strength. One estimate of the peak rate is over one hundred thousand meteors an hour,[12] but another, done as the storm abated, estimated in excess of 240,000 meteors during the nine hours of the storm,[1] over the entire region of North America east of the Rocky Mountains.
It was marked by several nations of Native Americans: the Cheyenne established
a peace treaty[13] and
the Lakota calendar was reset.[14][15] Many
Native American birthdays were calculated by reference to the 1833 Leonid
event.[16] Abolitionists including Harriet
Tubman and Frederick Douglass as well as slave-owners
took note[17][18] and
others.[19] The New York Evening Post carried a series
of articles on the event including reports from Canada to Jamaica,[20] it made
news in several states beyond New York[21][22] and
though it appeared in North America was talked about in Europe.[23] The
journalism of the event tended to rise above the partisan debates of the time
and reviewed facts as they could be sought out.[24] Abraham
Lincoln commented on it years later.[25] Near Independence, Missouri, in Clay County, a
refugee Mormon community
watched the meteor shower on the banks of the Missouri River after having been
driven from their homes by local settlers.[26] Joseph
Smith, the founder and first leader of Mormonism,
afterwards noted in his journal for November 1833 his belief that this event
was “a litteral [sic] fulfillment of the word of God” and a harbinger of the
imminent second coming of Christ.[27] Though
it was noted in the midwest and eastern areas it was also noted in Far West, Missouri.[28]“ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonids)
So with that background, heavily documented and
certified by eye witnesses, what about the moon of May 19, 1780? What makes it
any more significant that any other of the tens of thousands of lunar eclipses
since creation week, the most recent of which now are being touted as a cloud
of identical lunar events that blot out the importance of the blood moon of
1780? Here is the real problem with the naysaying: a lunar eclipse necessarily must occur at the
peak of a full moon. But, the unique blood moon of 1780 happened when the moon was
gibbous. Lunar eclipses require the Moon and Earth to be in the same plane, so
that lunar eclipses don’t happen every full moon. And more rare-- a gibbous moon can never
be eclipsed. Therefore, the Lord made that event impossible to explain away by
mere scientific theories. Neither was the Dark Day a solar eclipse, nor was
the scarlet Moon a lunar eclipse.
This leads to another thought, Why should the media call a typical lunar
eclipse a blood moon? It seems plain to me that there is the attempt to
minimize, and even disqualify, the 1780 unique, and stellar, and impossible by
natural causes, fulfillment of Revelation 6:12. The typical person may not detect the oddness of the recent rash of blood moons as being a part of the overall scheme to allot all validity and significance of the Bible to the trash heap. Another Bible prophecy speaks to this effort to hide prophetic fulfillment from the Protestant:
“And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the
Lord shall consume with the Spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness
of His coming:
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan
with all power and signs and lying wonders,
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in
them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they
might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong
delusion, that they should believe a lie.” (2Thess. 2:8-11).
That wicked one is the antichrist power that Paul was commentarying on in the context of the verses just quoted, that is, the vile king of the north of Daniel 11:22ff. And if you go there you will notice that this vile system takes up half of the chapter. So this one king of the north holds a much higher percentage compared to the other kings of the north that were listed earlier in Daniel 11, the vile king of the north. And notice too, that this vile system lays over another prophecy from Daniel, the little horn of Daniel 8:10-25—in three places: 1) Daniel 8:10,24,25;11:21-24 the destruction of the mighty and holy people (God’s church) through peace; 2) Daniel 8:12,13;11:30-32) the placing of the abomination that makes desolate/abomination of desolation/transgression of desolation (worshiping a trinity god of a pagan religion); and 3) Daniel 8:11,25;11:22.
There are other common points between
the two prophetic visions, but the main point here is that in the chapter 11
vision the aggressor against Christ (Antichrist) has power in two phases:
verses 21 to 39 and verses 40 to 45. In between the king of the south has the upper
hand to stop the wickedness of the vile king of the north. After two other
world powers showcased in the Daniel 8 vision, a little horn becomes so much
greater than the first two empires that it
grows to divine proportions—all the way up to the throne of God! Only one
world power did that—the Holy Roman Papacy. And why do I call the Daniel 11
vile king of the north the Holy Roman Empire? Because Paul did. He wrote in
verse 7 of 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 that this son of perdition/vile king of the north
was already at work as a “mystery of iniquity”. A mystery of iniquity, or a mysterious wickedness was
already working in the church! Paul later reiterated this fact at his last
missionary stop at Ephesus.
“Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood.
For I know this, that after my departing shall
grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking
perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of
three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.” (Acts
20:28-31). And Peter, John, and Jude also warned of the same happening right in
their day, while they lived, while they led the apostolic movement..
But, the two phases of the vile king of the north,
whose prophecy Paul was elucidating to the Thessalonica believers, would mean a
break in the indomitable northern apostate system that would hold the power of
persecution for 1,260 years according to Revelation 12:6,13-16 and 13:5, but
would receive a deadly wound that would be healed. And then the vile persecutor
would return to its power of inquisitions and domination over the consciences
of the people of God. But, this time it would involve the whole world, per
Revelation 13:4,11-17; 17:3-6. Like Paul’s message to the Thessalonians, John’s Revelation seems to show one work of the great enemy of God. But Daniel
explicitly tells of two parts of the enemy’s work of deception and persecution.
And the two phases can be gleaned from Revelation 13. But even without the
added light from Revelation, we already know of the two phases of God’s
greatest earthly enemy and Satan’s greatest tool of destruction, from the first
apocalyptic prophet, Daniel’s vision regarding the vile king of the north.
Have we seen Bible prophecy fulfilled in the case of
the little horn power that stood up against the Prince of princes and cast down
His sanctuary and His intercessory work in the heavenly sanctuary? Yes, in the
Holy Roman Papacy as it co-opted Christianity for the simple purpose of gutting
it and replacing its pure principles and holy Sabbaths with vile, promiscuous customs,
its deceptive occult practices, and its murderous pagan persecutions of anyone
brave enough to expose its multiplied impostures of Christianity, and
later of Protestantism.
What does this have to do with the blood moon? Simply this: the final church of Protestantism, the remnant of the Protestant Reformation, per Revelation 12:17, is the Seventh-day Adventist church. And every kind of way is being made to discredit its message, foul its original worship, and corrupt its original doctrines and books. And the Dark Day and Moon turned to blood, as fulfillments of biblical prophecy and part of the foundation for the existence of Adventism, are now under attack. The favored organization of Satan is feverishly stanching every quickening truth and filling in every well of salvation from the final church of God, the Seventh-day Adventist church. The Dark Day is being called a natural occurrence, easily explained, one of many wild fires, vast conflagrations in Ontario Canada, just west of New England. And the great phenomenal, scarlet moon of May 19, 1780, is now of late being co-opted and crowded out by so many advertised, internet blitzing lunar eclipses called blood moons. The lunar eclipse isn’t a new thing. It isn’t so exciting, unless there is nothing else for a decadent society to be entertained with. We in America are being bombarded with nonsense, spurious happenings that are only distractions for the truly important happenings—the Latter Rain, the great time of trouble, and the return of our Lord, and all of their accompanying signs. The media is bombarding us with decoys for the most sinister deceptions, “all deceivableness of unrighteousness” (2Thess. 2:10), that are slipping in to our politics, science, religion, economy, military, government, private sector. We are already overtaken.
The blood moons are only a part of the whole deception taking America down. Protestant America must lose everything Protestant—its Protestant religion, its Protestant Constitution, its Protestant separation of church and state, its Protestant rights and freedom, its Protestant societal mindset in its liberty-loving people. Protestantism is holding them back from global despotism. Therefore, it all must go. But the first thing to go must be its Protestant God and its religion. Once that goes—and it is well on the way—then everything Protestant goes. Once the covenant goes that our Reformation forefathers made with the only true God, the covenant with the God of Abraham, which Protestant America ratified with a Constitution that would protect its Protestant, self-government, non-papal principles, once we have fully denied its authority and place in our history, then the Holy Roman Empire-vile king of the north will be fully restored, and the old Dark Ages couched in a new and improved, different look—the New Age—will bring upon the world a horrific tribulation such as it has never seen.
“God’s word has given warning of the impending
danger; let this be unheeded, and the Protestant world will learn what the
purposes of Rome really are, only when it is too late to escape the snare. She
is silently growing into power. Her doctrines are exerting their influence in
legislative halls, in the churches, and in the hearts of men. She is piling up
her lofty and massive structures in the secret recesses of which her former
persecutions will be repeated. Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is
strengthening her forces to further her own ends when the time shall come for
her to strike. All that she desires is vantage ground, and this is already
being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel what the purpose of the Roman
element is. Whoever shall believe and obey the word of God will thereby incur
reproach and persecution.” The Great
Controversy, p. 581.
