“Oh, the unspeakable greatness of that exchange,—the Sinless One is condemned, and he who is guilty goes free; the Blessing bears the curse, and the cursed is brought into blessing; the Life dies, and the dead live; the Glory is whelmed in darkness, and he who knew nothing but confusion of face is clothed with glory.”

The Heir prior to reigning

“The Heir, as long as He is a Child, differeth nothing from a servant, though He be Lord of all;
But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the Father.” (Gal. 4:1,2).

Christ was eternal. From the ceaseless ages of eternity past the plan has been prophesied, “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” (Mic. 5:2). Yet the Father was before the Son came forth from Him.

Isaac was a type of Christ, not only in his willingness to lay down his life upon his father’s altar, but in his inseparable love for his beloved daddy and in his tendency to be just like Abraham, the father of many nations. As Isaac was all this, so Christ also was the express image of God’s character. As in Isaac would Abraham have a family as plentiful as the starry sky; so would Elohim through Michael.

Abram had to wait 100 years in order to be the perfect father. A long time elapsed before his perfect son would arrive. And even longer would Abram have had to wait had not the Lord reproved both he and Sarai just before her conception, and expedited their return of faith. The Lord would mark a century of Abram’s waiting for Isaac, “Laughter,” the long-awaited son of his joy; and He must, in order to perfectly reveal the mystery of Elohim and Michael.

Before the Father took of His divine self, forever losing a part of Himself to mold His divine Son, the Father dwelt alone through the previous eternity. His work was in creating galaxies of stars to decorate an immense void of empty space—that incomprehensibly infinite emptiness that still exists beyond the created universe.

Far beyond all that we can see in every direction, and much, much more, was God’s, the result of His almighty labor and power. Finally, when His home was filled with unimaginable décor and beauty, according to His infinite taste, the Ancient of days declared to Himself, “It’s no longer good to be alone, I will have Another like Me.” And out of His heart He brought forth unto Himself His highest, His one and only Beloved, who had been with Him, in His heart, from eternity. And immediately, the counsel of peace was between Them both.

As a newborn star still glowing with white-hot gases, One like the Son of man and sole Heir to the great Creator, came forth from His Father. His constant teacher was His Father’s Spirit, to faithfully command His Child after Him. Slowly, ever so slowly His beloved Son, the spiritual manifestation of the Ancient of days Himself, His own invisible body embodied in the brilliant glory as of a white dwarf star, grew up before the King as a tender plant.

Though the Son had not personally created the starry hosts, in His Father He had, and was Heir to it all. All principalities and powers, all things visible and invisible, at home in heaven and throughout the universe, were His as Heir. He appeared no different from the angelic hosts that were created to be His nurses and servants. He was in their form, and even appearing less than they, especially to the mighty general Lucifer who stood vicariously and temporarily in His place as leader of the angelic hosts until the time to transfer his power and authority to the royal Son of God.

That point in time arrived as the Son was ready to take His rightful place as Crown Prince. A secret meeting met between Father and Son, in their counsel of peace; but Lucifer was excluded. Lucifer not only had no right to this council because he was not divine, but also because his high rank and privileges had begun seeding pride in his heart that must be exposed to him in order to spare him from divine destruction.

The Father announced a convocation, commanding Lucifer and all the hosts of heaven to muster. With the Son by His side, the King made it clearer than ever before this, that His Son was not equal to them, but different. He was to be hallowed as they reverenced the Father, that from then on, “all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent Him.” (Jn. 5:22,23). This pronouncement was issued before all, but was made particularly toward Lucifer, which amplified and exposed to his heart his secret, proud ambitions; but was mercifully communicated to him alone.

Would he bow his pride at the goodness of God as he bowed his mighty frame before the Godhead, and seek repentance from Christ and mercy from the Father, or be overcome with rebellion toward Them? Thus, by his choosing rebellion the great battle of the ages was waged between the most powerful angel who desired to rule creation without the self-sacrificing love of God and meek One who was rightful Heir to the throne because of His inherited infinitely selfless, self-sacrificial being.

Soon enough all the choices and the polarization of spiritual beings were made and the first division and separation of angelic forces broke out. The confusion and sorrow and devastation felt by the heavenly hosts loyal to the divine government and the exulting harassment by the deceived angels under Satan’s influence, was unbearable to the holy angelic forces. So, Christ gathered His hosts about Himself and traveled a short distance to an empty spot in the front yard of His galactic home where sat a small, insignificant, sunless globe, dark and lifeless. Its water vapor blanketing a rock core was reorganized so that some water was condensed above and below a breathable space sandwiched in between.

This would not be His first sole creation. In conjunction with His Father, He had made many worlds with animate and inanimate life, plants and intelligent beings. But Earth would be special, for here would provide the battleground to vanquish all rebellion against His Father’s government of self-sacrificing love. In cooperation with His Father, all enemies would be put under His feet, and then He would hand it all, as a gift of love, back to His Father who would be all in all, finally and forever.

In the meantime, the Earth and mankind would reveal to the angelic hosts the mysterious eternal past of the Godhead.
