New Age Apocrypha
The preceding post describes the Protestant attempt to prop up a failing system of religion. Faith, blind faith in the Bible had been dissolving for centuries since Protestantism began in the mid-1500’s.
The Protestants hadn’t been studying the Bible which had come to them at such a heavy cost of human lives. So, Christ allowed the inevitable—a great delusion, a great lie. The Creator does not exist. Technology is our God which brought us out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, out of the intolerance and violence of papal Rome.
Suddenly, the Protestants found themselves at a loss to explain the hope that should have been in them. The attack by atheism and evolution was too much for them, and their strength was but weakness. They didn’t have faith, after all. After all their high profession, God wasn’t so much on their side to defend and protect them as they believed. They had left Him; and He had finally left them.
Like Israel of old, the Lord couldn’t convince them of their apostasy through His prophets. So, He brought on them the only thing that could get through to them—the loss of their beautiful temple. He raised up Nebuchadnezzar, who came and demolished Solomon’s and razed it to the ground. Finally, the people saw that the God they professed to serve wasn’t with them. Otherwise, how could their all-powerful God let His house be destroyed? This left their presumptuous religion in a lurch, and finally they were humbled.
Those who were left in Israel with Jeremiah were so shaken by the Babylonian armies that they fled to Egypt, despite the continued remonstrations of Jeremiah to not go there. So, a large community of Jews huddled in Alexandria and there tried to keep their faith alive amidst the surrounding paganism. But a remodeling of the Hebrew religion resulted; Judaism was born.
It was the effort to embellish the original writings through humanistic additions. Thus the Old Testament Apocrypha was born. In accordance with the current method, by showing fabulously concocted heroic actions of actual Biblical characters, the apocryphal writers sought to strengthen faith in Judaism. But these fables only stimulated pride and further weakened true faith.
Similarly, the early church suffered the same experience. The New Testament Apocrypha repeated the same embellishment through Gnostic letters that floated around Christendom like the email legends float around the internet, but the Gnostic letters had no Snopes.com to distinguish the true from the false.
Later, church canonized saints would accomplish the same attempt to prove Christianity’s purpose in life. But the truth was gone; the first love was also gone. Christianity was gone, and there was nothing men could do to resurrect it from the oblivion they had consigned it to.
Today’s New Age apocrypha of uniting creation with evolution is also bound to fail of producing faith. Theistic evolution and evolutionary creationism will only further degrade true faith in God’s ability to do the impossible and the humanly inconceivable. The mixing of good and evil in the fruit of Satan’s tree will continue until the whole world is destitute of living faith. “When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Lk. 18:8).
Furthermore, as the celebrations “in the Spirit” which we see pervade the Protestant landscape will finally overthrow the original sound doctrine pointing to obedience to all of God’s commandments, the finale embellishing of Christianity will be complete. The final work of Satan will be done.
“Then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming:
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” (2Thess. 2:8-12).
